Guitar Contest (now Harmony Idol)
As in years past, the HarmonyFest will be hosting a talent contest during the 2010 festival. Formerly this contest focused exclusively on students who played the electric or acoustic guitar. However, in both 2008 and 2009 the competition featured a number of contestants who demonstrated gifts with both guitar and voice. Realizing the opportunity to expand the event, the HarmonyFest Committee has redesigned this year’s contest to feature a wider variety of musical acts.
The newly revamped competition has been dubbed HarmonyIdol and will feature local performers 23 years old and under. The format will be similar to previous competitions in which contestants will preform for a live audience and 3 judges. The contest winner will receive a spot on the HarmonyFest main stage, a gift card donated by Woodwind & Brasswind and recording time compliments of the Kalamazoo Recording Company. The contest will be held at the Riviera Theatre on Main Street at 4:00pm.
To register for the contest please complete THIS FORM and return it with the $5 entry fee to the enclosed address by August 28th. Due to space restrictions, registrations will be accepted on the day of the event on a first-come first-serve basis.
